A person does ta’weel of the attributes of Allah. Me, my brothers, and friends play sports together but he is invited by people.Would it be permissible for me to play with them while he is there or play in the same game he’s playing in?Also sometimes I engage in idle talk with him. Is this haram?

Yes, you can play. Better to stay away from idle talk.
