Salamualikum sheikh what's the ruling for a few brothers to talk bad about some individuals who follow deviant sects and then make fun of them behind their backs? How should one advise such people?

This is forbidden and it is backbiting which is a major sin, so remind them of Allah and that they should stop this immediately.
