،السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته، أحسن الله إليكم، I have a question concerning the ruling of shemagh wearing styles during the salah. I heard that folding the shemagh over your shoulders is considered folding back clothes and preventing them from bowing, prostrating, etc. Can I get a clarification?

Ustadh AbdulAziz al-Haqqan
No, Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin was asked this exact question and said the shemagh is not analogized to folding the hair, because people wear it in different ways and the turban in the time of the Prophet ﷺ was itself worn folded on the head. What is meant by kaff is gathering up your garment or your hair so that it does not go down with you when you prostrate, and Imam Ibn Baz said to leave the ghutrah as it is and let it prostrate with you, and even where it happens the prayer is still valid.
