when i put on my socks after wudu to wipe over them for the next wudu, do i have to put them on straight afterr wudu. say i make wudu, can i put on my socks an hour later as long as i still have wudu?

No, it does not have to be straight afterwards. The condition is that you put them on while you are upon purity.
