Salam Alaikum WaRahmat Allahi WaBarakatu Ustadh, I have a question regarding wiping over the socks. Does it matter if the socks is see through and you can clearly see the skin, and if the water seaps through. Because I’ve seen it has to be thick and not see the skin. JazakAllah Khair

Imam Ibn Uthaymeen mentioned: "Indeed, this opinion which the questioner referred to — that it is permissible to wipe over anything worn on the foot — is the correct opinion. This is because the texts reported concerning wiping over the khuffs (footwear) came unrestricted, without being bound by conditions, and whatever comes from the Lawgiver unrestricted, it is not permissible to attach conditions to it... And this supports the opinion which the questioner referred to: that it is permissible to wipe over thin, light socks, and over socks that have holes in them.
