Ahsan Allahu ilaykum. My non muslim father plays drums. Something happened, my husband told me "I don't hate drums." I was shocked, I said, "you should hate it!" We should hate sins, because Allah hates them. I know I studied this but I wanted to check my understanding, am I correct?

Yes he must hate this as it is forbidden.
