Assalamu Alaikum Sheikh, In my family’s marriage proposal custom, the girl sends her photo to the man. From what I know, this isn’t permissible, but my parents insist I send it, saying he must see me before marriage. I feel pressured—what should I do? JazakAllahu Khair.

Imam Ibn Baz said: Yes, yes, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded looking at her and encouraged looking at the woman one intends to marry. If she appears adorned, this makes success more likely - for her to appear in fine clothing. There is no harm in him seeing her hair, face, hands, forearms, and feet; all of this is permissible because it encourages marriage. However, he must not be alone with her; rather, it should be from a distance, or in the presence of her father, brother, or mother. He must not be alone with her.
