Imam Ibn Bāz (may Allah have mercy on him) said: > “These insects—if they cause harm—may be killed, but not by burning. Rather, they should be eliminated using other types of pesticides. This is based on the Prophet’s ﷺ statement: ‘There are five harmful creatures that may be killed in the Ḥaram and outside of it: the crow, the kite, the mouse, the scorpion, and the rabid dog’—and in another narration: ‘and the snake.’ The Prophet ﷺ informed us of their harmful nature and described them as ‘fawāsiq’ (harmful creatures), and he permitted their killing. Likewise, anything similar to them among harmful insects may be killed in the Ḥaram and elsewhere if they cause harm—such as ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, and the like.”
