AhsanAllahu ilaykum The Hadith of the man who did everything with a woman except what a man does with his wife. His sin was forgiven because he prayed in the congregation but doesn’t a major sin require repentance or the sin he did was a minor sin? Can you please clarify

Well he came repenting isn't it? Or why did he come? But still the Prophet emphasized doing good deeds for forgiveness, therefore it is a strong saying that says even without repentance good deeds remove major sins but the other saying says no repentance is a must, and either way you are the winner by doing good deeds and I think the 1st saying is the stronger one and Allah knows best.
