السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته وفقكم الله We know that we are allowed to have multiple wives in islam but is this something that is encouraged, rewarded and praiseworthy? Should it be preached for the people to follow this sunnah or is it merely permissible? بارك الله فيك

“The textual evidence shows that polygyny is Sunnah; at the very least, it is a recommended practice. Allāh says: فَانْكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ “…then marry (other) women of your choice…” (Qur’an 4:3, Hilali-Khan). This is a divine command, but it is conditioned upon justice and upright conduct. As for anyone who fears he will not act justly—whether because his means are limited or because he knows some weakness in himself—he should marry only one wife.”
