السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته What is the ruling on praying without a head covering for men? If it is recommended or obligatory can any head covering suffice like a baseball hat?

Imam Ibn Baz said: There is no harm in that, because the head is not part of the ‘awrah (parts of the body that must be covered). What is obligatory is to pray wearing an izar (lower garment) and a rida’ (upper garment), due to the Prophet’s ﷺ saying: “None of you should pray in a single garment with nothing of it covering his shoulders.” However, if he adorns himself and completes his clothing, that is better, due to the saying of Allah, the Glorified and Exalted: “O children of Adam! Take your adornment at every masjid (place of prayer).” [Al-A‘raf: 31] As for someone living in a land where covering the head is not customary, then there is no blame on him for uncovering it.[1]
