Assalamualaikum, Ahsan Allahu ilayk ya Ustadh! Does the niyah to do something you sworn not to do break it or mus it be achieved. Example "never smoke again" But then take a cigarette with the niyah to smoke, the lighter doesn't work so he takes it as a sign and puts it away. Was the oath broken?

An oath not to do something is broken by actually doing the thing sworn against, not by intending it, because Allah has pardoned this ummah for what its souls speak of so long as it is not acted upon or spoken (agreed upon).
