السلام عليكم ورحمة الله I'm doing my PhD in Physics at a german university. My contract states: "The employee must, through their entire conduct, profess their commitment to the liberal democratic basic order in the sense of the Grundgesetz." What is the ruling on my status as a Muslim and income?

Fulfilling a covenant that does not contradict the Sharia is obligatory, and the scholars make the ruling turn on what the undertaking actually obliges. if it is only an undertaking of outward conduct, keeping the public peace and not disturbing the order of the country you reside in, then this is alright in sha'a Allah.
