Assalamualaykum ustadh. Was Salahuddin al-Ayyubi's mistakes pardoned? If he was not, how did Allah grant him victory? I am in a project and the person in charge is asking me to promote his virtues to inspire action. Based on what I read, he had some connections with sufis and is himself an ashari.

What Allah did with him in particular is of the unseen and it is not for us to rule on. As for writing about him you can show that he was upon mistakes etc. Allah knows best.
