Someone falsely accused me of something serious and others believed them and all turned against me without evidence. I’ve since protected myself legally. How do I approach forgiveness, and is it required of me even when the person hasn’t acknowledged the harm? They are in my uni and are all kuffar

Pardoning is better where it brings about reform. You protecting yourself is fine may Allah reward protect us and you. Consider what is wise in your situation don't be driven by emotions and stay safe.
