Assalam O Alaikum Sheikh ! I have read hadith of prophet SAW that he forbad to sell cats in sahih muslim 1569 sunan abi dawood 3480 graded sahih by albani , but the scholars including 4 imams say you can sell cats? can you briefly explain me why is it? Jazak Allah Khair

Imam Ibn Baz, Shaykh al-Fawzan and the Permanent Committee took the hadith on its apparent meaning and said cats are not sold. Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin said the majority permit it when the cat is of lawful benefit and carried the prohibition onto the wild cat that cannot be delivered, and he called that a very strong position while still advising not to sell them.
