Ahsan Allahu ilaykum sheikh is online chess permissible? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but to my understanding physical chess is not encouraged because it uses physical pieces which are considered idols. What about online chess which doesn't use physical pieces?

There are different views regarding chess, and it does not make a difference whether it is physical or not.
