What is the response to someone who asks “where was Allah before the throne?”. I’ve heard people say nothing existed with him but I wanted a trustworthy answer. Jazakullah Khair

What you heard is correct, and it is the wording of the hadith itself: Allah existed and there was nothing besides Him, and His Throne was upon the water (al-Bukhari).
