Assalamu alaykum. My father is my wali. He rejects anyone who is not Tamazight, even saying he would not accept the Imam of Makkah because he is Arab. I want to marry an Egyptian. What should I do according to Islam?

Preventing a woman from marrying a suitable man without a valid reason is what the people of knowledge call adl, and it is forbidden. If he refuses for no reason, or for a reason that is not considered in the Sharia, he is an adil. Imam Ibn Baz said that a guardian who withholds his daughter in this way is wronging her, and that when a suitable man comes it is obligatory upon him to hasten to marry her to him. Therefore, she can raise her matter to those that can talk some sense into her father like her grandparents or uncles etc or a muslim judge.
