احسن الله اليكم In Usul fi At-Tafsir it was explained that basically every prophet mentioned in the Quran is a Messenger. But Adam is not a Messenger, so I was hoping you explain it better how he is a prophet and not a Messenger.

Ustadh AbdulAziz al-Haqqan
A messenger is one commanded to convey a legislation to a people, and a prophet is one who receives revelation among a people already upon the religion of the messenger before him. Adam alayhi as-salam was a prophet, for it is authentic that he was a prophet who was spoken to, and his offspring were upon tawhid, so he was not sent to a disbelieving people with a new legislation. The first of the messengers was Nuh alayhi as-salam. As for the claim that every prophet mentioned in the Quran is a messenger, I do not believe we have made such a claim, and if we did, please point it out so we can revise it.
