Assalāmu ʿalaykum Ustādh. May Allah preserve you and bless your knowledge. What is the ruling on buying and eating packaged buns that list ethanol/alcohol as a preservative, although the product is non-intoxicating and it is unclear whether any alcohol remains? Jazak Allahu Khairun

The measure is intoxication. If what is added intoxicates in large quantities then it is forbidden. However, if it does not then it is allowed.
