أحْسَنَ اللهُ إِليْكُم I saw a video of shaykh salih alfawzan confirming that the quran says the sun orbits the earth, but i was taught that the quran meant that the sun orbits the center of the galaxy. Which on is it ya ustadh And how can one protect himself if bad thoughts about this come to him?

What is certain, and the Quran states it plainly, is that the sun itself moves and runs its course, as Allah says, the meaning of which is: "And the sun runs on to a resting place of its own" (Surah Ya-Sin, ayah 38). Beyond that, as for whether the earth is stationary and the sun circles it, Shaykh al-Albani held that the earth rotates, and that the Quran did not come to settle questions of astronomy.
