How to respond to people who say: you can trim or cut the beard because in Islam you need to be beautiful(meaning fixing yourself up etc), so you can fix up your beard so it’s not overgrown, or if someone’s hair grows in a way that twirls and looks like the Jewish beard twirls to not copy mushrikeen

Ustadh AbdulAziz al-Haqqan
It is obligatory to leave the beard and let it grow, and it is not allowed to shave it or trim it, because the Prophet ﷺ commanded, leave the beards and differ from the mushrikīn (agreed upon). The argument that trimming it is a kind of beautifying oneself does not make it allowed, because the beauty that is intended here is in leaving the beard as the Prophet ﷺ commanded, not in cutting what he ﷺ ordered to be left. And a beard that simply grows in its natural way is not an imitation of anyone, so it is not cut for that reason, since the imitation that is forbidden is what a person does deliberately, not the way Allah created his hair to grow.
