As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu, If i did not know what a vow was but i said to Allah if i stop this may you give me the money back that i spended on it. Is it then a vow or must there be a intention behind it?

What I understood is that you just made du'a, and this was not a vow. Allah knows best. You can let me know if I'm correct.
