I read that Fudayl Ibn Iyadh swore by Allah that if u lose hope in people to the point where u don’t want anything from them, Allah will give you everything you want Jami Al-Ulum Wal-Hikam 462. Can you pls explain what this means? Not even hoping for love, care and emotional closeness from friends?

First of all, we have to establish that this is authentic, because in many books a lot of narrations are reported that can be inauthentic. When we do not verify their authenticity and we start building rulings based on the sayings of Imams and companions—despite the fact that they never actually said them—it is problematic. How do we reconcile between this and the authentic Hadith of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) where he said the meaning of which:​ "Of your world, women and perfume have been made beloved to me, and the coolness of my eyes has been placed in prayer."
