In Uṣūl Al-Sittah Lesson 7 you said regarding seeking ilm to be the highest voluntary act: "and is one of the sayings for imam shafi'i and it is a riwayah for imam Ahmad" What does "one of the sayings for imam shafi'i" mean? Was this his final saying? What does "it is a riwayah for imam Ahmad" mean?

If i said this it means there is another saying, and riwayah means it is reported by Imam Ahmed and sometimes it means there is another report by him. As for what is the last etc then this is a research to be done by a student of knowledge
