I’ve noticed that the scholars don’t say names or sects when referring to people of bid’ah. I was wondering why this is? Would it not be more beneficial to name out these people of bid’ah and these sects to stay away from them?

That's incorrect. They do name individuals as well as groups. However, in certain situations they would name them, and in other situations they wouldn't. This is following the method of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when he would warn people. He would say, "What is the matter with some people who do so and so or say so and so?" Also, they take into consideration the outcome and the wisdom: 1. If it is going to lead to greater evil 2. If it will occupy people from seeking knowledge 3. If it causes fitna or a greater evil In those cases, they would not mention the names, for example.
