Assalamu alaikum ustadh. If I slept after time for Asr started and told someone to wake. They tried and yet I was half asleep and continued without having any alarm and woke up after Asr. Is this negligence ustadh? It's confusing on where to draw the line between negligence Vs actual Shari'i excuse

Of course, this is negligent. You should have prayed, then slept. Why would it be time and you are able to pray, and then you go sleep? Most probably you are not going to wake up.
