Ahsan Allahu ilaykum There is a female beggar (wears niqab, prays)- she doesnt have income and wants to do hajj. She hopes to slowly save up. Can zakat be given to her for helping her to reach the money for hajj even though hajj isnt obligatory upon her? JazaakAllahu khayran

There are two sayings for the people of knowledge in regards to this: 1. I believe that the jumhur (majority of the people of knowledge) say she is not to be given from the zakah. 2. If I am not mistaken, the Hanbali madhhab considers this "in the way of Allah," and that she can be given from zakat. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows best. However, as you said, Hajj is not obligatory upon her because she does not have the means; she is not able to.
