My wife accepted Islam. She was loving, woke me for Fajr, and practiced the deen. Due to my ignorance, I was harsh in teaching and practice, so she drifted away. I know my faults and how grave they are. She says she is traumatized by me. How can I make amends and help her return? Jazakallah khair.

Ustadh AbdulAziz al-Haqqan
It is good that you've realized you have done something that is not good and that you want to make amends and rectify what has been broken. But no one can come and say, "I am going to disobey Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and it is all the fault of this person or that person." No, absolutely not. This is your own evil now that is happening. We do not rectify a mistake by a worse mistake. We don't start doing evil things and say, "Well, others have treated me harshly, so now I am going to go against the religion of my Creator in order to feel good." No, you are doing this because you want to do this. Actually, it should be more of a reason for you to tend towards Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala more and get closer to Him, asking Allah to rectify the husband and rectify you and so on. This is extremely dangerous and a huge mistake that this sister needs to abandon at this very second and start turning to Allah and rectifying her affairs. And an advice to you: what you are doing is not a call to Allah. You are pushing people away from the religion of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and you are a contributing factor here, which is a very bad thing. I ask you both to repent and turn to Allah.
