Are we rewarded for the acts of our offspring even if its hundreds of years later and our great great great [...] grandchildren?

The bounty of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala is expansive. A teacher might teach a child something, and that child teaches it to his child, and it continues down for hundreds of years, as you said. This is truly from the bounty of Allah.
