Assalamualaikum Can you give a brief answer as to what counts as joking in religion... ex. I saw a vid ofa man praying and a dog came near him, as he was in rukuh he pushed it with a shoe and I giggle at that action, or someone who says "bismilah" in a funny way to mimic someone elses speech.

Well, when it comes to the dog, if it is to mock the religion of Islam and the impurity of a dog, then this is very dangerous. As for somebody that's just mocking how Arabs speak (for example, if he said "Bismillah"), this is different. It is not the same as someone mocking the religion itself, though this is difficult to discern. However, most of these questions stem from someone who is suffering from compulsive thoughts, which is called "waswas" in Arabic. Answering such questions—or thinking deeper into these things—might only increase the waswas. A person who suffers from such a condition should always avoid these thoughts altogether at any cost.
