I’ve noticed in the past that one scholar known for bidʿah and people who studied under him answer questions by first listing all the different opinions on an issue and then stating which one they believe is correct at the end. Is this method problematic in itself?

For a layperson, this could be very problematic, as they would like to know the ruling and they do not have enough education to even properly understand different opinions or the difference of opinions itself. This is not the case for students of knowledge, as long as the information they provide is accurate.
