Peace be upon you. My husband’s brother’s wife has been backbiting about me and harming my reputation among other women. I advised her that backbiting is haram, but she dismisses it. Should I distance myself from her to protect myself, or should I remain patient and keep family ties?

You can distance youself while still giving salam etc. Distancing does not mean cutting off the ties but reducing or preventing the harm altogether.
