If a game contains haram elements that I can easily disable or remove, but by playing it I slightly contribute to its popularity—maybe causing others to play it with those haram aspects included—would it still be considered halal?

It is allowed if u avoid, but if u mean just u buying it, makes it more popular this is waswas, but if u r actively helping in spreading it then this is not allowed. And either way play something else to avoid all of this.
