Assalamu alaikum ustadh. Is it better to stay away from parents etc.. a little bit to avoid wasting time and falling into sins with them. Or is it mandatory to always spend time with them ? Cause they might feel neglected etc.

No, you don't have to spend all your time, you also have your life but keep them company as well don't neglect them, everything in moderation may Allah reward you.
