As-salāmu ʿalaykum, In Lesson 2 of Level 1: "Whenever you associate anybody or anything whatsoever, in any act of worship whatsoever, with Allah, this is major kufr that takes you outside the fold of Islam" how do we understand this with context of ri'ya which is "minor kufr"?

In riya (showing off) you are not dedicating the worship to Allah and someone else with Allah, as that is major shirk.
