السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته أحسن الله إليكم Shaykhana, could you please clarify the ruling on praying in trousers for both men and women? I recently came across a video in which a shaykh said it was not permissible, which I also didn’t fully understand. الله يحفظكم

For a man, salah in loose trousers that cover from the navel to the knee is valid, as Imam Ibn Baz said, though a long shirt over them is better, and Imam al-Albani strongly disliked trousers. For a woman, the scholars differ: Imam Ibn Uthaymin did not allow her trousers in or out of salah, and Imam Ibn Baz allowed loose ones that are not of men's style. Tight trousers that show the shape are not to be worn.
