Assalamu Alaykum Shaykh Raslan mentioned a story of Abu Ali al Daqqaq, and explained that the effects of sins may appear as a punishment in a persons life, and can be delayed by a long time, even 40 years. Sincere repentance wipes out the sin, and Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin said that when the repentance is sincere, the sin does not affect the one who repented. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said the one who repents is not punished, neither in this world nor in the next.
