Is it permissible in Islam for a husband and wife to celebrate their wedding anniversary by traveling together, having a nice dinner, and giving a gift with the sole intention of increasing love and affection between us, and not as a religious ritual or as an imitation of any other religion?

Ustadh AbdulAziz al-Haqqan
Travelling, a nice dinner and gifts are all good between spouses at any time. Doing them every year on the wedding date makes that day an Eid, and the scholars said this is not allowed even when it is not meant as worship or imitation. So do these things on other days, without tying them to the date or being annually and without the intention that it is an anniversary of any kind. Just from time to time have a nice dinner or exchange gifts to increase your lobe for one another as simple as that.
